Description
The Controls Engineer is responsible for overseeing plant-wide controls and electrical infrastructure, including instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human machine interfaces (HMIs), and distributed control systems. This role involves new installations, programming, troubleshooting, mentoring technicians, reviewing billing and tariffs, and recommending efficiency improvements. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a focus on maintaining uptime, compliance, and high-quality production.
Responsibilities
Plant-wide controls and electrical projects, including installation, troubleshooting, and programming of PLCs, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
Technicians through mentoring, training, and coaching to enhance skills and ensure work quality.
Billing, tariffs, and energy usage to recommend cost-saving and efficiency initiatives.
Workloads, technical support, and quality of controls-related work to ensure uptime and high-quality product output.
With design, development, testing, and implementation of electrical systems and equipment.
Electrical issues using diagnostic tools and provides technical resolution before, during, and after projects.
OSHA, NFPA, NEC, EPA, TTB, and company safety regulations and policies.
Equipment under quality control programs and reports findings, ensuring equipment and processes meet safety and quality standards.
Cost and work-time estimates for projects, ensuring deliverables meet service, budget, and quality expectations.
Preventive maintenance programs, equipment inspections, lubrication schedules, and documentation to maintain facility uptime.
Leadership consistent with company culture, ensuring employees are treated fairly and creating a team environment focused on customer satisfaction.
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience (BSEE, BSEET, ASEE, ASEET)
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on electrical experience
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming and hardware
- Strong troubleshooting experience with electrical equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and ladder logic
- Strong communication, planning, organizational, and technical skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience in the alcohol beverage or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience
- Rockwell Automation controls training
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage and develop technical teams
