Job Summary
Responsible and accountable for established machine and shift productivity, quality, and yield requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operates assigned packaging machine(s) in compliance with established current Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operation Procedures, safety requirements and other regulations.
  • Responsible and accountable for established productivity, quality, and yield requirements.
  • Recommends productivity, efficiency, quality and safety improvements to management.
  • Performs and documents operation in compliance with Batch Records, SOP's, and any other required documentation.
  • Disassembles and assembles packaging machine(s).
  • Performs wash downs and tests machine for cleanliness.
  • Checks weights and labels packages according to the batch sheets.
  • Fills, seals and labels boxes according to batch sheets.
  • Stacks boxes on pallets.
  • Complies with all company policies.
  • Works in a safe manner.
  • Checks work for accuracy.
  • Participates in training as needed.
  • Completes additional tasks and projects as assigned by management.

Education, Training:

  • Minimum of a High School degree or GED.
  • Must be organized, thorough, and self motivated.
  • Must have familiarity with cGMP's, SOP's, HAACP's, or other similar quality programs.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to follow written instructions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Heavy physical effort required.
  • Must be able to lift 55lbs throughout the shift.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention required.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and walk about the building.
  • Regularly required to maintain balance while performing job tasks that may be in awkward bending and stretching positions.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Fine manual motor dexterity required to complete forms and other paperwork.

Typical Environmental Conditions:

  • Works in a powder processing manufacturing facility with moderate noise.

Immediate Hiring for Experienced Maintenance Technicians!

All Shifts Available: 1st, 2nd & 3rd

What you'll do:
Maintenance Technicians are responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance (PMs), diagnosing and correcting equipment issues, and ordering parts/ supplies from catalogs and suppliers for necessary repairs. This position also provides occasional overtime/weekend work to support the Aurora locations.

Every day, you can expect to:

  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that equipment continues to run smoothly, including: inspects belts, motors, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, repairs or replaces broken parts, etc.
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.
  • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Diagnose and correct equipment issues, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

To thrive in this role, you must:

  • Have minimum of 3 years' experience in a maintenance environment required (Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred).
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Vocational School education is considered a plus

Preferred qualifications:

  • Powder production experience a plus
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Basic skills using RF scan guns preferred
  • Experience in food environment or consumer product preferred
  • Ability to operate a machine with the knowledge of changing over parts preferred

What you'll do:
Oversees Plate Washer, Boxmaker, Closer and Tube Liner Inserter. Maintain areas to provide quality packaging for 640 # blocks.

Essential Functions

Vacuum Sealer:

  • Ensure vacuum pumps are on and vacuum sealers are enabled.
  • Close vacuum sealers as soon as they have four fresh boxes.
  • Place clean slip sheet on cheese and fold bag, after vacuum sealers.
  • Place bottom boards and irons on boxes (reject any damaged components).
  • Check Tosca iron legs on the leg jig to ensure they fit the 640 box correctly.
  • Ensure boxes don't sit in one place for too long, to prevent a jam.
  • Fix any jams in your area.
  • Contact Level 3 immediately when you can't fix a jam.
  • Ensure environmental cleaning is done and signed off by the end of each shift.
  • Log Delvocid lot code onto the delvocid tracking log sheet each time the sprayer is filled.
  • Foam area when not in production.
  • Inspect each block for any foreign material ex. Plastic, excessive peppers, other color cheese etc.
  • Keeps records in accordance with good manufacturing process and local and state laws.

Boxmaker/Breakdown/640 Front End/640 Back End:

  • General knowledge of components (Arena, Tosca and Kraft).
  • General knowledge of banding machine operation and cleaning.
  • Inspect each box for correct assembly.
  • Keep a supply of 640# boxes on line at all times (10-20 boxes).
  • Contact VR or ATL when banding machine is not operational.
  • Identify bad components and reject them.
  • Assemble boxes by hand when banding machine is down.
  • Ensure environmental cleaning is done and signed off by the end of each shift.
  • Tower preparation for CIP.
  • Tower Cleaning.
  • Refill and thread plastic wrap on machine.

Fill Station:

  • Run all fill station operations (Calibrate scales, insert angles etc.).
  • Run all Dry Ice Operations (Calibrate Hoppers, dose blocks, log weights etc.).
  • Inspect each block for foreign material ex. Plastic, metal, excessive peppers, other color cheese etc.
  • Perform metal detector test.
  • Perform DI magnet inspections.
  • Must be able to work HMI.
  • Fill out all log sheets for area.
  • Load and select vacuum chambers.
  • Perform CIP on 640 fill line and VC 1-7
  • Foam Fill Station area.
  • Startup Fill area.
  • General housekeeping and at end of your shift check your area and clean up.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of non-negotiables.

Tube Liner Inserter:

  • Place a blue tube liner in each box after it gets made and cheese cloth on baseplate.
  • Use dolly squaring tool to check for bent tabs when running Arena.
  • Keep liners stocked.
  • Do not use any damaged or dirty liners.
  • Assist the angle washer operator when necessary.
  • Ensure environmental cleaning is done and signed off by the end of each shift.

Plate Washer:

  • Spray all plates, use scrub brush and HC10 on them.
  • Ensure all cleaning and chemical sanitizing mixing procedures are followed.
  • Each base plate has a clean cheese cloth if put on at that station if not at the angle station.
  • After each cheesecloth is placed on the base plate.
  • Ensure environmental cleaning is done and signed off by the end of each shift.
  • Assist the angle washer/tube liner operator when needed.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of non-negotiables

Additional Functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

  • Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to loud noise levels (i.e. manufacturing equipment).
  • May be exposed to humidity, intense heat, and areas with possible air contamination, fumes and toxic chemicals.
  • May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground with risk of fall, or areas with risk of electrical shock.

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal travel limited within the local area.
