We are currently hiring for a variety of Maintenance and Manufacturing roles in Norwood, Massachusetts.
The Maintenance Mechanic will support the asphalt roofing shingles production line. In this role you will select and properly use all hand tools and stationary power tools including power saw, welders, etc., as you troubleshoot, diagnose and repair most plant equipment (pumps, gear boxes, rollers, bearings, motors, conveyors, etc.). Other essential job functions include: metal fabrication / welding; changing out worn motors, gear reducers, bearings, etc; lubricating / maintaining conveyors; troubleshooting manufacturing equipment. You will be a member of the Teamsters Local 25 union.

Compensation: Base rate of $26.06/hr + shift premium (between 0.40 and 0.50/hr) + overtime paid at 1.5X base rate (last year, their master mechanics averaged W2s over $90,000). There is also a $2,000 sign-on bonus and annual year-end bonus
Requirements: Ideal candidates will have troubleshooting, maintenance and repair experience with industrial mechanical systems (conveyors, compressors, pumps, etc). The manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas >80db are present inside plant areas. These positions may include outdoor tasks in a wide range of climate conditions (Heat/cold/rain/etc.). The Manufacturing processes involve granules, silica sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene. Moving equipment such as forklifts, genie booms and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility.

The positions listed below offer multiple shift options, competitive pay, and shift premiums.
Responsible for preparing the glass mat rolls, moving them from the staging area to the unwind stand, recording information from the rolls, handling of waste material, splicing rolls while the machine is in operation. Assists with repairing web breaks and threading the machine as necessary. Ongoing cleanup of assigned area.
Responsible for the section just past the pattern cutter to the end of the Auto Catchers, front or back side. Threading the sheet, clearing jams, cleaning rolls, are some of the responsibilities involved. Performs SPC functions for control of process. Ongoing cleanup of assigned area.
Responsible for the Wrapper section of the machine. Ensure smooth wrapper operation and splice new rolls of wraps. Ongoing cleanup of assigned area.
Directly oversees granule coloring operation; assists others in setting up raw materials for runs; monitors product quality; Operates colorimeter; Coordinates delivery of product to roofing: with foreman; operates shuttle system; starts / stops most equipment in operation; directs start-up and shut-down procedures; directs activities of spare person. Operates hoist and delivers materials to mixer. Is relieved by spare person. Occasionally drives tow-motor.
Weighs raw materials into mixer per formulation; operates Toledo scale; operates mixer; assists cleaning bottom floor when not operating mixer. Occasionally operates tow-motor. Assists in start-up and shut-down. Is relieved by spare person.
Directly oversees screening and disposition of crushed raw grading; cleaning and adjusting screens as needed; measures tank inventories and diverts flow when inventory dictates; assists and relieves crusher lead person. Occasionally operates tow-motor. Provides own relief.
Provides regular relief to mixer operator; cleans bottom floor as needed; retrieves raw materials as directed by lead person; assists in start-up and shut-down; relieves lead person. Regularly operates tow-motor.
Responsible for operating the rotary dryer, monitoring the feed into the dryer, as well as routine checks on the equipment. Routine cleanup during downtime.
Responsible for data collection, inspection, interpreting data, and responsible for taking action. Must display an understanding or demonstrated ability to learn quality systems as this individual will work closely with the management team to improve and sustain the facilities ISO9001 management system and registration.
