Job Description

Title: Maintenance Technician, Level II (possibly Level III)
Location: San Diego, CA
Shift: Mon – Fri, 1st Shift (5:30 AM – 2:00 PM)
Compensation: Level II - $23.32-$35.03/hr Level III - $26.07-$39.02/hr

Position Description: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Technicians maintains and repair machinery such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment. Performs maintenance and repairs to physical structures of facility.
• Conduct tests to locate mechanical system malfunction.
• Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repair or replaces defective parts.
• Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricate and cleans parts.
• Use machine tools in installation, maintenance or repair.
• Start devices to test their performance.
• Sets up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Initiate purchase order for parts and machines.
• Repair electrical equipment.
• Read and understand blue prints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Utilize braze-welding equipment as needed.
• Maintain repair records.
• Maintain a clean and orderly maintenance shop.
• Adhere to safety procedures

• Minimum 3-5 years of related experience and/or training
• High School diploma or GED required
• Communication skills:
o Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
o Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
o Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Mathematical skills:
o Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
o Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to work overtime, as needed
