Compensation: $100k+, Per Diem when assigned to vessel
Benefits:
Initial Travel: This position is expected to initially provide field support during the proof of concept testing onboard a product tanker that most likely will sailing between US and Europe (20-day voyage). The expectation is to receive on the job training during the first couple of voyages (40 days) to later take ownership of the process and become the company representative for the other part of testing (20-40 days). After this travel, the Technician will primarily work in Houston.
Position Description:
Carbon Ridge is hiring a full-time, self-motivated, task oriented, proactive, Pilot Plant Technician to work on our proof-of-concept system and commercial-scale technology development and deployment. As Pilot Plant Technician, you will work along our process engineering team in testing an optimization of our Carbon Capture and Storage Pilot Unit. This position will be primarily in-person at our corporate office in Houston, TX, our fabrication partners’ jobsite, as well as opportunities to routinely work remotely.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and operate experimental, prototype and/or commercial unit.
• Maintains record of run conditions and test results.
• Perform pipe fitting, tubing and equipment connections.
• Oversea structural fabrication and pipe welding at partner fabrications site.
• Maintain a high sense of urgency and speed in delivering pilot plant data and results.
• Demonstrate a sense of ownership for the pilot plant assets and strong teamwork with co-workers.
• Become the equipment expert and the “Go To” person for assigned assets when equipment/process/computer interface modifications are proposed.
• Demonstrate the highest level of safety and consideration for others working in the pilot plant.
• Work independently, developing, planning, and executing day-to-day equipment operations and maintenance as established in the standard operating procedures.
Requirements:
• Bachelor/associate degree in a technical field, chemistry and/or engineering, preferred.
• 5+ years experience working and troubleshooting electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems; significant comfortability working with industrial systems
• Ability to generate and interpret technical drawings.
• Knowledge of MS Office applications (Word and Excel)
• Experience with operation of laboratory and pilot scale equipment in the chemical sector. Ideal if experience operating amine gas treating units.
• Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practices environment.
• Passionate about decarbonization and tackling climate change
• Ability to operate effectively and autonomously in an early-stage startup with high-levels of uncertainty and a fast-paced environment
• Multi-story stair climbing, ladder climbing, heavy lifting up to 50 pounds,
• Demonstrated technical hands-on interests
• Aptitude for technical and practical work
• Manual pipe fitting, equipment assembly.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and well organized.
• Marine/Offshore experience considered a significant plus.
