Position Description:

In addition, all plant mechanics from time to time will be given relief operator assignments for the purpose of plant operator relief for vacations, sick leave, emergency leave, holidays, etc.

Responsibilities Include:
• Welding, cutting, fitting, and threading pipe; installing insulation.
• Reconditioning valves and traps; cleaning boilers and related auxiliaries.
• Performing general labor for the maintenance of plant building and structural components.
• When necessary, plant mechanics will be assigned the responsibility of operating the Company’s Post Street Boiler.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate has previous experience as a Navy Machinist Mate. You should be mechanically inclined and possess the skills to handle heavy equipment and materials as well as be able to cut, fit and thread pipe; install insulation, re-condition valves and steam traps.

You should also be trained and proficient in traffic control, excavation and shoring in confined workspaces and possess the ability to perform heavy manual labor and work in confined spaces (four feet to fifteen feet deep) subject to varying temperatures and air flow.

Lastly, you must be willing to wear all types of PPE including; hearing protection, eye protection, all types of hand protection, steel toe footwear, head protection, wear fall-protection, half-face and full-face respirators.
