Position Description:
The Engineer position is a contributing member to the site level Data Center Operations team assigned to one or more of our data center properties reporting directly to the manager of Facility Engineering. The Engineer will work on the following: mission critical infrastructure, generators, UPS (uninterrupted power supply) system, HVAC Systems, Fire/Life Safety Systems, BMS Systems, and CMMS systems.  It is expected that the Engineer candidate has expertise in either electrical work or mechanical work and it would be expected that he/she would be competent in the area of non-expertise. The responsibilities of the Engineer are:

 

Site maintenance and repairs/inspections to help ensure Digital Realty’s data center operations achieve the highest level of availability.
Contribute to the daily site operation, including creation and modification of site operating procedures.
Contribute to creation of change management tickets and timely incident reporting.
 

Requirements (must have 2 of 3):

4+ years’ experience on critical facilities operating/engineering or equivalent equipment (Military examples: Navy Nuke ET/EM/MM, conventional MM, GSMs/GSEs).
Experience performing scheduled and unscheduled electrical and/or mechanical maintenance.
Competence in the area of non-expertise (for example, electrical expertise with mechanical competence, or vice-versa).
 

Good to haves:

Strong knowledge of various UPS (uninterrupted power supply) systems and architectures.
Strong knowledge of various cooling systems and architectures.
Strong knowledge of energy efficiency principals.

Position Description:
As a Critical Facilities Technician II, you will perform operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair on the following types of systems and equipment: mission critical infrastructure, generators, UPS Systems, HVAC Systems, Fire/Life Safety Systems, Building Management Systems (BMS) and CMMS systems.
• Mechanical responsibilities will include working on chilled water systems and components, HVAC systems such as roof top units, CRAC/CRAH units, humidification systems, fan wall systems, air cooled chillers, and central plant operations.
• Electrical responsibilities will include working on electrical/critical power distribution from the Utility/Generator main switchgear through the UPS systems out to the customer load, UPS, PDU, and RPP cabinets.

• Maintain and complete regular facility and security tours documenting and responding to found issues.
