Position Details:
Title: Electrical Instrumentation & Controls Technician
Location: Elwood, IL (Chicagoland)
Shift: 12-hour rotation shift. Two consecutive days 6:00am-6:30pm followed by two consecutive night shifts 6:00pm-6:30pm then 4 consecutive days off!
Compensation: $37-$43/hr. starting base rate, depending on skills and experience + O/T for any bi-weekly hours worked over 80. Paid bi-weekly. Pay is negotiable based on experience level coming into the role.

Position Description: The Electrical Instrumentation & Controls Technician is responsible for all electrical instrumentation & controls functions of machines and equipment across the paper facility including preventive and non-preventive maintenance. Duties include:
• Installation, configuration, troubleshooting and repair of photo eyes, switches, PLC input/output modules, control wiring, motors, VFD drives, and soft starts up to 4160 volts.
• Maintain and troubleshoot device encoders, load cells, hydraulic systems, burners, and boiler controls.
• Install, calibrate, troubleshoot pressure, level, flow, temperature, and measurement transmitters.
• Tune process control loops and machine control systems.
• Some familiarity with DCS, PLC, and HMI interfaces.
• Some familiarity with DCS & PLC control systems.
• Troubleshooting ladder logic, block logic, sequential logic, or statement logic-controlled systems.
• Troubleshoot, configure, and implement integrated & stand-along HMI & communication protocols.
• Train operators in performing minor maintenance tasks.
• Apply high-level of safety standards & ensuring workplace safety (lockout/tagout, PPE, etc.)

Requirements:
• HS Diploma/GED
• 2+ years of demonstrated electrical experience in controls or instrumentation – OR – a combination of electrical experience with an associate degree in related field. Must have solid instrumentation skills.
• Must pass a 15-question multiple choice basic electrical assessment (formulas are provided!) covering Ohms Laws, parts of simple motors & starters, testing a 3-phase motor, 480V 3-phase variable frequency drive, test heaters elements, basic troubleshooting, meter reading, and blueprint reading.
