Position Details:
Title: Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Location: Shelby, NC
Shift: M-F 6:00am-3:30pm
Compensation: $33.25-$39.30/hr. starting base rate, depending on skills and experience + O/T for any bi-weekly hours worked over 80. Paid bi-weekly. Pay is negotiable based on experience level coming into the role.

Position Description: The Mechanical Maintenance Tech is responsible for all mechanical functions of machines and equipment across the paper facility including all maintenance. Duties include:
• Performing regular preventive maintenance functions, observations, and inspections on production equipment. Take temperatures on bearings, examine for worn parts, and clean/lubricate equipment.
• Maintain mechanical portions of converting and paper machine equipment in acceptable working order, operate and inspect to diagnose defects.
• Repair and replace damaged or worn parts/equipment. Test mechanical products and equipment after repair to ensure proper performance and compliance with the manufacturer's specifications.
• Respond to work orders including changing log saw blades, baler wire, gearboxes, and rolls.
• Use diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
• Operate milling machines, lathes, and saws to modify or fabricate components as needed.
• Weld or solder broken parts using electric or gas welders and soldering tools.
• Assist operations as needed, with changeovers and equipment operations.
• Train operators in performing minor maintenance tasks.
• Apply high-level of safety standards & ensuring workplace safety (PPE, etc.).

Requirements:
• HS Diploma/GED
• 3+ years of demonstrated mechanical experience– OR – a combination of mechanical experience with an associate degree in related field.
• Demonstrated experience working with pneumatics or hydraulic systems and good mechanical troubleshooting.
