Position Details:
• Title: Field Service Engineer
• Location: Bay Area, CA (Santa Cruz / Modesto / San Jose / San Francisco / Sacramento)
• Schedule/Travel: This is a high overnight travel position (~80%) that can encompass client sites throughout the US (although ultimately the travel will be more focused on the region of the US in which you live). Travel typically covers multiple days, but generally you can expect to be home on a good number of weekends.
• Compensation: Target compensation ~$85K - $100K base salary

Position Description: In this role you will have the responsibility for performing on-site installation, repair and calibration of test and measurement equipment and systems. You could also be asked to diagnose mechanical, hardware, software and systems failures, using established procedures, utilizing experience and exercising troubleshooting skills to determine most efficient method(s) for resolution of problems to minimize customer downtime. Some specific responsibilities include:
• Perform installation of single or multi-rack systems, including chambers, comprised of multiple company equipment at the customer site.
• Perform on-site upgrade, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of Company systems.
• Responsible for scheduling frequent domestic travel with sometimes less than 24 hours’ notice and occasionally for extended periods.
• Ensure that appropriate quality standards are adhered to in the performance of the position.
• Participate in ongoing efforts of process and product improvements.

In order to be successful in this role, you should have prior calibration / repair experience with test and measurement equipment, metrology, etc. You should be able to demonstrate expertise in electronics maintenance / repair, ideally to component level; experience with RF / Communications equipment and systems is very relevant. Familiarity with calibration, soldering and using test equipment is also preferred. You should have good overall mechanical aptitude and have intense attention to detail and patience. You will be expected to be a self-starter and be able to work effectively autonomously or within a team.
