Orion Talent, the nation’s largest military recruiting firm, is currently recruiting transitioning or former military professionals for a System Testing Analyst Technician position with a leading provider in stored power solutions utilized by energy leaders in offshore, telecom, energy-services, utilities, oil & gas, data centers, motive power, material handling, distribution and manufacturing industries.

Position Details
Location: Mandeville, LA
Compensation: $22/hr + OT (depending on experience)
Shift: Monday – Friday | 8am – 5pm
Travel: All travel will be in company-provided vehicles. Travel percentage is between 50%-75% travel, mostly local with infrequent overnight travel.

Position Description
As a Systems Testing Analyst, you will be responsible for capacity testing of batteries for Commercial, Telecom and Industrial systems. Responsibilities will include:
• Check conditions, fluid levels, overall battery voltage, and specific gravity readings of cells, using voltmeters and hydrometers.
• Connect sensing leads to batteries and recording cell float voltages.
• Connect portable battery plant with station battery when needed.
• Communicate with customer on all necessary connections to equipment.
• Connect load banks to batteries.
• Apply temperature correction factor to discharge load and program test equipment.
• Initiate capacity tests, maintaining load at the specified level throughout testing until battery terminal voltage drops below the specified end voltage.
• Test equipment for overheating, using thermometers.
• Reconnect Station Battery to the DC system once testing is complete.
• Assist customer personnel in adjustment of charger current limit and output voltage levels.
• Check voltage and polarity with a calibrated digital multimeter prior to making any battery connections.
• Check for voltage and continuity with a calibrated multimeter prior to making any connections to the load bank(s).
• Verify whether a system is or is not grounded.
• Protect all cables from pinch points, sharp edges, and any short circuits.
• Safely and proficiently operate a 20’ straight box truck.
• Properly roll up cables and test leads to prevent damage.
• Understand the basic theory of reasons for capacity testing.
• Proper use of a multimeter and amp clamp.
• Proper use and selection of PPE.
• Proper connection of test equipment and operation of BCT system.
• Understand parallel series circuits.
• Understand the NPG procedures for testing.
• Show competency in composing an NPG Test Report.
• Operate a digital hydrometer.
• Proficiently work with Word, Excel, Harvard Graphics, Adobe, Outlook, Alber software, BCT, and BA.
• Safely connect and disconnect a temporary battery system.
• Perform basic generator PMs.
• Perform daily inspection of truck.
• Have truck PMs performed according to maintenance schedule.

Position Requirements
• The ideal candidate has 2+ years of technical training and hands-on experience in an electronic/electrical role with the US Navy or Airforce.
• Experience with UPS/Turbine systems and Telecom are a plus.
• You must also have knowledge and experience with Oscilloscopes, Multi-meters, Hydrometers, and Computer Skills, software skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
• Must have satisfactorily completed a pre-employment assessment, background screening, pre-employment physical and DOT drug screen (hair follicle).
• Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle following all traffic laws and safe, courteous driving habits.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
