Description

• Location: Mankato MN, must live in MN
• Shift: Monday is a travel day
• Travel: 100%-North & South America with some European travel
• Training: There will be approximately a year (fast track) of classroom and field training. Most training is in the USA but there is some in Germany.
• Compensation: $33-38 per hour + OT Total earning potential $80k-$85k
o Bonuses/Additional Compensation – Company vehicle provided for short trips or around the upper Midwest, All flights and rental cars are paid by the company & company credit card

• Vaccine Requirement: None but to enter to some customer sites it will be required
• Technical Fit: 90% electrical, 10% mechanical
Navy Nuke EM, or Power Gen Tech with component level experience.


Position Description: As a Sr. Field Service Commissioning Technician you will be performing preventative maintenance, start-ups, and repairs on generators; including automatic transfer switches, diesel, and gaseous engines. Promote safe and efficient operation of duties. High travel required.

• Service, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul engines, genset systems and their electronic and mechanical systems.
• Lead on-site work, maintain active list of project timelines and prioritize job tasks
• Prepare work estimates
• Commission and operate engines and genset systems
• Instrument genset systems and record test data
• Inspect parts to assure conformance to specification
• Perform field inspections of failed parts and write reports to avoid future incidents
• Maintain engine, system, equipment log books, and detailed records of daily activities
• Identify and request parts and tools to perform job functions
• Source local vendors required for field service
• Work with product groups on product design development
• Provide input for updates of service manuals and bulletins
• Instruct customers in safe engine operation, shutdown procedures and troubleshooting
• Provide technical assistance to other service personnel
• Remain technically current
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Analyze technical data, and perform special projects as required



















Requirements:
• Two years mechanical or technical trade school and 5 years field service with mechanical or electrical troubleshooting experience; or 7 years field service experience.
• Excellent knowledge of electronics and ability to read blue prints and electronic schematics
• Ability to travel 60-80% on short notice international and domestic
• Ability to lift, push, pull weights in the 20-60 lb. range; bend down, stand over, lay down and complete work tasks within the tight confines typical of genset enclosures and compartments and/or engine rooms for long periods of time
• Ability to operate machine shop equipment used for fabricating test parts and equipment
• Strong ability in the operation and troubleshooting of engines, instrumentation and electronic engine controls as well as the use of mechanical and electrical hand tools
• Strong ability in the use of measurement and testing tools for mechanical and electrical systems; technical language and engineering terminology
• Strong knowledge in the principles of electronics, physics, hydraulics, pneumatics; operation of internal combustion engines
• Strong knowledge in the physical properties of fuels, coolants, lubricants and oils
• Proficient verbal and written English communication skills and good organizational skills
• Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
• Clean driving record


Qualifications:

• Experience with MTU engines and electronics
• Experience in gaseous engine service industry
• Experience in testing of gaseous engine components
• Experience in rigging of weights up to 1 ton
• Experience in report and service letter writing
• Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
