Senior Field Application Specialist

Northeast
US Navy, E-6

I am a First Class Electrician's Mate in the Nuclear Field and will be going on separation leave starting August 30th. I will officially be out September 29th. At my 90-day point, I started searching for job, and, within days, I had several interviews lined up through Orion International, including the one with Lutron Electronics.

Since I was living in New York but looking for a job on the West Coast, I talked with several recruiters from Orion. Mark Kraft was the first one to contact me. He then referred me to Jim Lewis on the West Coast. Then another recruiter gave me a call about a job conference in Fishkill, New York. He wasn't sure if he had any companies attending that were hiring for the West Coast but said he would find out for me. Other recruiting agencies that worked on the East Coast just gave up when I told them I was looking for a job on the West Coast. Orion, on the other hand, called me back later and said Lutron had agreed to come to the conference and had job openings in Los Angeles, California. Because of the short notice, I could not make it down on Sunday, nor could I put in a request to get off from work on Monday. However, my recruiter was able to schedule me a time slot later in the day on Monday.

I went in to work on Monday, left a little early for the conference, and, by Friday, had a job offer from Lutron. Everything happened so fast! I went to Fishkill for my Lutron interview, which went very well. The next day I got a call from Lutron asking me to come down to Pennsylvania on Thursday, where I was interviewed in five different interviews. The day after that, I got a call from Orion saying that Lutron was going to offer me a job. Later on that day, Lutron did call and offer me the position. I still had other interviews lined up, so I told them I would get back to them following week. After my other interviews, I took the job with Lutron. I interviewed for a Field Application Specialist, however, they offered me Senior Field Application Specialist. Lutron is such a great company, and what they have to offer was hard to pass up. I am now more excited than ever to start this new job.

Everyone at Orion was very helpful. While utilizing Orion, I was also using a few other recruiting agencies. Orion was the only agency whose recruiters were not afraid to pass me onto another recruiter if it was going to be better for me, the client. Everyone kept in touch with me and continued to look for a job for me. Even when Mark referred me to Jim on the West Coast, Mark still kept looking for me and kept in touch. At one point I had four different people from Orion trying to find the perfect job for me. On top of the great service, it was free to me. You can't beat that!
