Production Team Leader

Southeast
US Marine Corps, E-5

My name is Sergeant Matthew Clingon, and I have proudly served in the Marine Corps for eight years. Having accomplished all of my goals that I set for myself at the time of my initial enlistment, I made a decision to leave the military. There are definitely some things that I will miss about the Corps, but like most of us leaving the service, there are definitely a few things that I won't miss!

I really hit the job search hard in January, since my EAS was July 2006. I put together a resume and posted it on every job search website known to man. I waited. Nothing happened. I went to websites of companies that I wanted to work for and directly submitted my resume to them. Still, nothing happened. I did this until about the beginning of March, when I had a conversation with an officer that I used to work for. He told me to try Orion International. He said it would not cost me a dime, and they had a reputation of getting results, and results were something that I did not have at this point.

I went to the Orion website and called the phone number of the Raleigh office. As soon as I spoke to them I could tell that they were serious about their work. That's when I found out about the hiring conference. My recruiter told me that it would be in Raleigh in April, and if I could get the time off to attend, it would be time well spent. The next day, I received an email with all of the information about the hiring conference. I interviewed with three companies, and two of the three companies called me back for site visits and follow-up interviews. Both companies made offers. I chose Varco Pruden.

Orion took out a lot of the leg-work of the job search process. They really did most of the work for me. They arranged all of my interviews, and the best part of it was they were all in the same place on the same day. That's not really something you can do on your own, but Orion makes it happen.

My recruiters went out of their way to help me find employment after the Marine Corps, and I will always be thankful for the services that they provided for me. Every Marine that I talk to that is getting out, retiring, or considering leaving the service, I tell them about Orion and how they helped me. I only wish that I had found Orion International sooner!
