Field Service Engineer

West
US Air Force, E-4

I spent my enlistment (four years) with the United States Air Force, serving in Abilene and Wichita Falls, Texas; Biloxi, Mississippi; Kuwait City, Kuwait; and Doha, Qatar. I served as an Avionics Technician specializing in communication and navigation equipment (i.e. electronics, radios and radar). I completed my enlistment with the rank of E-4 (Senior Airman). I left the military in March of 2007 and moved back to San Diego to finish college at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. I graduated in July of 2008 with a BS in Aeronautics and minors in both Management and Safety. I actually started looking around for a new career in June of 2008.

I did a lot of research on the web trying to find jobs that interested me, and somewhere along that line, I crossed paths with information about Orion International. I didn’t want a company that I would have to pay out of my own pocket, since I have heard horror stories of people being swindled and never receiving any good jobs or opportunities.

Since Orion helps veterans and provides their services to prior military at no cost, it seemed like something to try. The biggest factor for me in deciding to use Orion was that they put veterans first. They are a very smart and professional group.

I worked with Quang Truong out of the San Diego office. It was a very good experience, and I am very lucky to have found a great opportunity with the company I now work for. I am also lucky to have worked with Quang, because he was someone who felt confident enough in the companies that he was promoting to urge me to give them a chance and see for myself why he is promoting them.

I feel that when the right company came along, I was informed based on my needs and wants. I understand that the job process can be up or down depending on your personal needs, but Quang was patient and understood what I was looking for and helped satisfy those needs. I have been working here at Vaisala two months now and am a Field Service Engineer. It is a great job with chances to travel. I have the opportunity to utilize not only my electronics background but my education, which will serve as a stepping stone, as well.
