Operator

West
US Navy, E-6

I was a Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Mechanical), First Class in the U.S. Navy and retired on November 30, 2008. I began researching the job market in April of 2008. I remembered hearing about Orion while working on the USS Benfold.

Jim Lewis was my recruiter. We first met at the July hiring conference. I had no idea what a hiring conference was at the time, but he took about an hour of his time to sit down and talk with me. One thing Jim did was ask me the tough questions I was afraid to ask of myself like all the what- if: what if I couldn't find anything in the locations I desired, what if I couldn't find the positions I was looking for, did I have any back up plans? I am convinced he was genuinely concerned with my success in reaching the next step in my career. Not once did I ever feel like I was in it by myself.

I attended a few hiring conferences, but it was actually a conversation I had with Jim and Gino Marchetti about a position with NRG Energy in El Segundo that led to my job offer. After doing my research and getting company information from Jim, I became very persistent on getting an interview. I went onsite on October 24th and received my offer the next Monday!

I will be starting out as an Operations & Maintenance Technician-1. This is exactly the position I was looking for. The location and work schedule are a perfect fit for me! Thank you, Orion, for the professionalism and personal service you put into doing your job! Everything was well done, from the company overview presentations to the interview skills practice to the follow ups! I hope to never have to use these types of services again, but, if I do, I will be coming back to work with the pros at Orion! Thanks!
