Shift Supervisor
Northeast
US Army, O-3
I was a little nervous about finding a job after getting out of the Army, especially with the difficult job market. I did not want to be out the Army and unemployed. Prior to my separation date, though, I had multiple job offers through Orion International after working for them only one month.
My Orion recruiter was Mike Wood. He was great. He called me often to check in and see how I was doing. He was always willing to answer any questions I had and always had answers for me or would find them. I couldn't have asked for a better recruiter.
Every step of the way, I truly felt that Mike’s goal was to get me a job in which I would succeed. I always felt like he was my advocate and that he was working hard for me. I wanted a lot of interaction with my recruiter, and Mike gave that to me every step of the way.
I attended the Baltimore hiring conference and did five interviews there. Even though I was a little nervous about the hiring conference, I was very happy walking out of it. The preparation day gave me all of tools and information I needed to succeed in my interviews. I ended up doing follow-on interviews (at the company sites) with two firms and received two job offers.
I did one interview (for the job I ultimately took) off conference. I will be managing the second shift at a car parts factory in Rhode Island, managing about 30 personnel. I wanted a management/leadership position, and Orion provided me multiple job opportunities that met the parameters I was looking for. From attending my first interviews to offer acceptance, the whole process was barely one month.
During the time I was working with Orion, I also worked with another recruiting agency. Orion did a much better job of paying attention to me. Orion always immediately returned my calls and emails. They were proactive in looking for the exact type of jobs I wanted.
