Store Manager
Northeast
US Army, O-5
I retired after 23 years as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Corps of Engineers and just signed out on my final transition leave in September. However, I started my initial post military career search back in March 2008. I had heard about Orion International over the years through seeing their ads in the back of Army Times. I worked with both Chris Hurst and Mike Wood at Orion, and both were very helpful and attentive to my career goals and requirements.
I worked with another military placement group, as well, but I found Orion was more effective at delivering more interview opportunities in my current geographical location. I also found Orion to be a little more aggressive and attentive during these tough economic times.
I was invited to participate in an Orion hiring event for Wal-Mart in New Jersey, which resulted in my current successful placement with that company. I was hired on as part of their new pilot Store Manager Development program, where we will take over the management of a Wal-Mart Store after six to nine months of ‘in the field’ co-manager training.
This outstanding opportunity has afforded me the chance to work in the desired geographical region of my choice without having to re-locate my family one last time. This position also offers me the career potential to grow and advance within the management of the number one retailer in the world.
