Operations Analyst

US Navy, E-6
I was an E-6/Nuclear Field ET1(SS) in the Navy and made board to be selected to E-7 (but not promoted) with just over eight years in. About seven months before I began my official civilian job search, I was in contact with about 15 placement companies and quickly became overwhelmed. My goal was to weed them down to the two or three that seemed to be looking out for my interests, so that when I was closer to getting out of the Navy I wouldn't be wasting my time with companies that weren't going to help me. I was left with Orion and one other company.
Orion blew the competition completely out of the water! It would be impossible for me to stress this enough. I attended the other recruiting agency’s conference, where I only interviewed with two companies. One of those companies was one with which I had expressed I did not want to interview. They had me interview them anyway, and the interview didn't go well, because I would never have worked for that company.
The other agency held the poor interview against me, despite the fact that I never wanted the interview in the first place. My relationship with that agency ended at this point. Orion, on the other hand, got me hired, and even got me an excellent second job offer. The competition didn't even come close to coming close.
Quang Truong was my recruiter. However, the responsibility of placing me into a new job was shared by several people who were all knowledgeable of my situation, including Jim Lewis. The staff consistently did an excellent job handling my specific needs.
My Orion hiring process consisted of filling out an application to provide Orion staff with information about myself, my military background, my employment interests, my location preferences, and what my priorities are (money, location, specific industry, etc.). I also sent them a copy of my resume. I ended up with a very good resume, thanks to them.
They also interviewed me in person to gain an understanding of my personality, so they could better match me with a company's culture. This aspect of recruiting is often overlooked but is very important. I was then invited to Orion hiring conferences in my area until I found the right employer.
I have now worked at NAES as an Operations Analyst for about two months. It is a great culture match for me and has the laid-back environment in which I work best. My background contributes well to the organization, and I really enjoy my work. Also, the pay is about what I was making in the military. The company has great benefits and is expanding and gaining new accounts, even in the worst of economic times. I really couldn't have asked for much better. In fact, I had two comparable job offers to choose from thanks to Orion.
Orion met the needs of my location/money/industry/ethics/culture balance. I honestly could not be happier. I now recommend Orion to any and every veteran I know, because I know they're the best. The representatives of the company are wise, helpful, and efficient. Overall, the company creates the ultimate win-win situation. NAES got an employee that adds value to their company, and I got a job I love.
