I was an E-8 in the Navy, known as a Senior Chief, and had 21 years of military service. I started my terminal leave in March 2009 but began searching for a new job in January. At that time, I found out about Orion by sheer chance. While at my local Family Service Center to get some assistance on my resume, I was handed a business card that belonged to Jim Lewis at Orion. I decided to give him a call, and the rest is history, as they say.

Jim treated me very professionally. I told him what I was and was not interested in, and he took both into account in helping me find a job in an ailing economy. He listened to my needs every step of the way.

I am currently a Maintenance Planner working on implementing a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program for Graphic Packaging, and there has been talk already about being promoted to the RCM Manager. The military has utilized RCM for years, and many civilian companies are beginning to utilize it now, as well. I bring a lot to the table based on my experience in the Navy. In the Navy, I learned that equipment is equipment, no matter where you are working. My military background prepared me well for the Industrial Manufacturing industry.

There is no comparison between Orion and other recruiting agencies. I worked with another company that didn't take my needs into consideration and offered me jobs that I was not interested in. They also didn't take the time to find out my skills and see if I was match prior to an interview. It was as if they just wanted to get me any job they could, where Orion tried to get me the job that matched my skills and met my needs!

I would certainly recommend Orion to anybody else looking to start another career. The folks I dealt with were professionals dedicated to helping professionals. It was nice to see. The Orion recruiters went the extra step to find out how each interview went and to make sure all issues of concern were addressed. It was more then just finding a job and giving it to somebody; I felt like they really cared if I got the job I wanted. I enjoyed the experience.
