Maintenance Manager

Midwest
US Navy, E-8

I left the Navy on terminal leave on May 7, 2009, but am still on Active Duty until July 31, 2009. I started interviewing for jobs through Orion in April and was called back for second interviews on every occasion.  I was offered several positions that are similar to the position I ultimately accepted.  After a 21-year Navy career, I wasn't going to settle for anything that I felt was not the right fit for me, so it was nice to have several offers to choose from.

As a Senior Chief Electricians Mate (E-8) in the Navy, I would say that every single experience I had in the military helped prepare me for the position I accepted.  Not long into my job search, I realized that, even in a difficult economy, my skills and abilities were very sought after.  I had a solid background in Electronics, Programmable Logic Controllers, Logics, Boilers, and Engineering Officer of the Watch qualifications on multiple classes of ships. My most important attribute in every single interview, however, was my leadership foundation that grew over 21 years and Maintenance Manager experience as a shipboard Maintenance Coordinator.

I believe I contacted Orion only one week before the May Chicago hiring conference.  So, within one week Orion was able to schedule me for several interviews that fit my skills and my geographic preferences.  The position I accepted was the company from my very first interview from the Chicago hiring conference.  I interviewed with ARAMARK on May 4 and began working for them on May 18.

Now that I am in a hiring position, I would only work with Orion if I was looking to hire a veteran.
I had a great experience with them, from my very first contact with Ernest Burson, DJ Holder, and Dan Young.  I know that I will be contacting Orion in the future.  My experiences were so positive that this will be a long-term partnership! A huge thank-you to Orion!
