Southeastern Regional Technical Specialist
Southeast
US Navy, E-5
I don't get out of the Navy until August 12th; however I began my job search in March to get a head start. I served as a Crew Leading Petty Officer in the US Navy. My position in the US Navy taught me the value of hard work and dedication. I learned that if you treat the people with respect, they will go out of their way to help you. My technical training, both theory and hands-on, was invaluable to preparing me for civilian life.
I was treated very well by my Orion recruiter, John Teague. He was very respectful of my location desires and the field I wanted to work in. Most of the other recruiting firms called me with jobs out of the region I wanted to work in, and in fields I wasn't really interested in. Orion never called me with anything other than what I asked for. That’s why I chose to work with them.
John was very proactive about setting me up to attend a hiring conference in Atlanta, GA. After a morning of company presentations, I interviewed with three companies, one of them being Switch and Data. I had two companies very interested in me, and both John and Mike Skinner were very helpful in getting the ball rolling with both companies. Eventually, I received offers from both companies, and I chose the Southeastern Regional Technical Specialist with Switch and Data.
