Electrician
West
US Navy, E-4
I left the Navy on May 26, 2009, but I began my job search towards the end of January with little promise of securing a job prior to my exiting the military. I submitted my resume over the next months to at least 30 different companies searching for positions I felt my military experience had prepared me for, but I did not receive one follow up from my own search.
It turned out that the only interviews I was going to get were through Orion International at hiring conferences. Jim Lewis, my recruiter, explained to me what his company did and how they could help me. It was a great comfort to know someone else had already been in my shoes and was there to guide and give advice through my job search process.
At my last hiring conference on June 1, 2009, I interviewed with a company called Manson Construction Co. They were seeking an Electrician with 600Vac and Motor experience, which was right up my alley. They were pleased with me during the interview process because of my can-do attitude and willingness to work the hours that were demanded by current position.
I know that I could not have found this position without having the training from the Navy where I was an E-4, EMN3. Plus, I have to thank Orion International for giving me the opportunity to interview with Manson Construction in the first place. Orion by far did a better a job than any of the other recruiters did during my search. They listened to my needs and put me in the location I wanted to be in with a great hourly wage to support myself. I strongly recommend that anyone who is seriously thinking about leaving the military utilize Orion International to interview with companies and see what is out there.
