Process Operator

West
US Navy, E-7

I was in the Navy as a Nuclear Trained Machinists Mate Petty Officer and left the military after almost twenty-one years on January 31, 2006. I had learned about Orion International through an old Master Chief I used to work for, and when he was getting out of the Navy a few years ago, he could not say enough good things about the company. He had never steered me wrong before, so I tucked that info away until I needed it. One day Jim Lewis came to Hawaii, and I went to his brief to get more information. He tried his best to help me out. It was difficult because I was in Hawaii, but the emails kept flowing and things worked out. Jim helped me revise my resume, and then I flew to a hiring conference in San Diego and interviewed with quite a few people over a two day period. A few days later I was called by Dave Bakkeby who talked to me about the companies that were interested in me. Genentech called me a few days after that and flew me in for another round of interviews. I received and accepted an offer, and I love my job. I began working on January 9, 2006, as the Utility Operations Supervisor at Genentech Vacaville, California. I supervise a group of operators who supply utilities to the facility and production process. This is exactly the type of job I was looking for, and I couldn’t be happier.

Orion exceeded my needs. Without Orion, I never would have applied for this type of job, because I didn’t even know it existed. I was very nervous about getting out of the Navy and finding another job in a timely manner, but Orion’s process put me in contact with about ten prospective employers in a two-day period. I thought that was awesome and well worth the money I spent to get there. The amount of help and support I got from Jim Lewis is what got me hired so quickly. He found my dream job when I didn’t even know what I was looking for. Thanks!
