Ground Business Development Manager
West
US Marine Corps, O-3
I just recently left the active duty Marine Corps in July 2009 and learned about Orion International through a friend's recommendation. JP Sniffen was my primary recruiter, and I could not have asked for a more passionate mentor throughout my transition process. Forthright and eager to see me succeed, JP was very professional while delivering earnest and constructive advise/counsel.
I was fortunate enough to have a couple months before getting out off active duty, so I attended a couple hiring conferences and conducted a few in-person interviews with a number of different companies prior to finding my match. I believe having those experiences is what ultimately prepared me for success.
I am currently the Ground Business Development Manager for Firetrace Aerospace. I work with other former military professionals, so in my industry there are many similarities to the Marine Corps. In fact, I spend a significant amount of time traveling to HQMC and other military bases while researching fire suppression requirements and developing relationships with key stakeholders in the industry.
When I left the active duty Marine Corps, I was a Captain and the Instructor-Inspector for Phoenix, Arizona. In my new civilian position, my role has been to educate the Marine Corps on vehicle fire suppression systems and threat analysis. My military background as a Combat Engineer has provided credibility to my new role, while also providing my new company with a better understanding of the Marine Corps/military procurement and contracting.
Orion not only met my needs in terms of employment but also better prepared me for the civilian workforce. I actually worked with two other military recruiting firms and simply did not experience the same attention or professional representation that I received from JP and the Orion staff. Thanks for your hard work!
