Production Supervisor
West
US Navy, O-3
I contacted Orion International well over a year ago in hopes of securing a new job with a larger organization. I had transitioned out of the military in 2005 (ex-naval officer) but had never looked for a job in the traditional sense, as I was recruited by my current employer straight out of the military.
My first (and ongoing) point of contact at Orion was JP Sniffen. He took the time to listen to my somewhat unique situation in that I was not an active duty or recently transitioned officer, in addition to the fact that I was currently employed. All points I realized were probably not the standard profile of individuals seeking Orion's help. But JP took the time to understand my background and quickly grasped my desire to explore options of joining a large, global company in hopes of securing a career that offered long-term professional growth.
Concurrently, I began working with other national military officer recruitment/placement firms. It didn't take me long to realize JP and the entire Orion team were worlds above the other firms in terms of professionalism, willingness to answer my questions, and a general positive attitude that was always welcome when dealing with the required grind of interviewing with numerous companies in this challenging employment landscape.
After completing a hiring conference with each firm, I discontinued my association with the others and decided to work exclusively with Orion, as there was no doubt in my mind they were the premiere organization and gave me the best chance of securing a position with a quality company. Other companies spend tons of advertising dollars proclaiming they offer this type of service, yet in reality the experience is nowhere close to “As Advertised”. Orion International on the other hand is exactly as I've explained in that they are always helpful, determined, and cheerful, which is a welcomed experience to say the least!
As anyone looking for a job during the last few years knows, the employment market is extremely challenging these days. Add location hindrances like I did (due to my wife being in dental school until 2011, so I was unable to relocate from the SoCal region), and you've got a tough recruitment job on your hands. These factors did not discourage JP and his team. They never gave up looking for an opportunity that met my “wish list” and were constantly providing me updates. It was their relentless drive, coupled with an always positive attitude that was most refreshing when dealing with Orion.
After searching and meeting with many diverse opportunities, Orion secured me an interview with a global healthcare company that was looking for smart, energetic leaders. On paper, the company seemed to be everything I was looking for, and I knew I would be a good match. After a few rounds of interviews, I was offered a position with outstanding benefits, leadership responsibilities, and a career growth potential second-to-none.
There is no doubt in my mind that I would not have been able to secure this position if not for the work of the whole Orion team and their ability to get top companies and candidates face-to-face. It takes more than submitting a strong resume to an HR department to get your foot in the door for an interview, and Orion has proven to me time and again that they are the right team to accomplish this task. I couldn't be happier with Orion International and highly recommend their services to all prior or transitioning military personnel looking to secure a position with any industry leading company.
