Engineering Manager

West
US Navy, O-4

I retired from the military in July 2009 but had been searching for a new career since March 2009. I was familiar with Orion through other junior officers who had separated or were about to separate/retire. I worked with JP Sniffen at Orion and was treated professionally and with the utmost respect by JP.  Not only was he an active listener, but he also was positive motivator, despite the current economic situation.  The key is he always focused on those jobs best suited for me based upon my skill set, and we would always discuss to see if the position was a great fit before submitting me for the position.  JP is truly a professional.

I am about to start a new career in the manufacturing industry as an Engineering Manager. Without a doubt, the leadership skills I developed as a LCDR in the Navy are necessary and invaluable skills for most management level careers in private industry. Other intangible skills I gained through the military are adaptability, effective communication, and resource management.

Orion’s ability to establish a personal connection with the clients and candidates, as well as their prompt follow-up helped set them apart from the competition. Special kudos go to Scott McNary, as well as JP, for assisting me in starting a new career in the private sector. I wouldn’t be in the position I am in without their tireless efforts and positive feedback.
