Project Engineer
South Central
US Army, O-3
I attended Colorado State University and graduated in 2004 with a BS in Civil Engineering. I also attended Webster University while stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, earning a MS in Environmental Management. Following my return from my last deployment in February 2009, I enrolled in Colorado State University as a PhD candidate in Environmental Engineering. I then began searching for jobs four months after my return.
Having been on the job as a Project Engineer with Coastal Environmental Group, a national environmental remediation company, now for a few weeks, I feel that the business structure, pace, and mentality is very similar to the Army Engineer community in which I was previously a Captain. The experience I had with the military is invaluable in my leadership position in the civilian sector. The only true differences are the details behind how finance and customer interface occurs.
Bob Berkholz, Rob Valenza, and their team were excellent throughout the hiring process. I felt very lucky to have worked with them. I experienced very little work load associated with the process, and they were very attentive to my concerns and questions. They provided ample guidance and advice.
Since I was fairly far away from the hiring conferences, all coordination and interviewing was done via phone call. Initial contact was made and preferences were discussed and noted. Then potential employers were contacted and preferences were discussed there. Finally, when I gave the green light, contact between the employer and me took place. Orion did all the initial leg work and prepared me for my company contact and interview.
Orion outperformed all the other recruiting agencies I was utilizing. I'd highly recommend them to my peers and encourage very open communication to be sure all of your needs are noted with the recruiter. Orion does an excellent job hunting down opportunities that meet your needs and fit your experience. In fact, I’m still a little surprised how little effort I had to invest. It was so easy!
