Service Technician
Northeast
US Marine Corps, E-7
I was a CH53 crew chief and Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps and left the military in August 2003. Since then, I have been working in the construction field. When the market slowed and I started looking for other opportunities for employment, I contacted Orion.
My recruiter was Matt Clingon, and he was invaluable in placing me in front of the right companies. Matt prepared me for interviews and taught me how to bring out my experience in such a way that it would clearly demonstrate my abilities to the civilian workforce. I attended an Orion hiring conference in Baltimore and was hired by my new employer through that conference. I am now employed with Siemens in the field of Building Automation.
Working in critical environments is similar to the work I did in the military due to the nature and importance of the job plus the use of troubleshooting and technical skills to keep a variety of systems online and working properly. Throughout my time in the Marines, I was exposed to and trained in many areas of technical, mechanical, and management. I have experience ranging from being a wrench turner to being a Quality Assurance representative. I think that the experience opened many doors and allowed me many opportunities across a variety of fields.
Orion is the best placement company that I have ever been privileged to work with. Orion is straight forward and to the point with one goal, which was to put me in the best possible position to work for the best company that suits my skill set and personality. They went well above and beyond and are truly representative of the men and women that they are placing as veterans of the armed forces. They are a cut above anyone else in the recruiting market today, and that is a fact.
The energy and professionalism of all the recruiters that I had the honor of working with not only made my transition from my old job painless but lifted the burden of transitioning and allowed me to relax, be myself, and concentrate on interviewing with the companies they presented. From the very beginning, I had no doubt that they would put me in front of the best companies on the market and that it would be up to me to win or lose. I hope that I never have to change jobs again, but, if for some reason I did, Orion would be my very first phone call.
