Being a Platoon Sergeant in the US Army gave me the confidence, leadership skills, and problem solving abilities that have allowed me to be successful in my career after the military. I am now an Operations Manager with Koch Industries at KCBX Terminal in Chicago, IL.  This position parallels my Platoon Sergeant role in that I lead a group of workers to fulfill daily plans using large equipment.  There is also a chain of command within the crews that resembles that of an Army platoon.  The communication skills that I used in the US Army directly apply to my new role on a day-to-day basis.
