I served five years as an Infantry Officer stationed at Fort Drum, NY, and Fort Benning, GA. The duty positions I held included Rifle Platoon Leader, Ranger Instructor, and Battalion Personnel Officer. This experience prepared me to jump into leadership roles in many different professional settings. The key was finding the company that best fit my leadership style and that desired my type of experience.
This is where the staff at Orion was pivotal in my career search. Like most combat arms officers, my background was very broad and not specific to any individual industry. The skills I developed as an Army Officer enabled me to be able to relate to large groups of people and understand the necessity for systems to ensure efficient execution of tasks. I leveraged these skills at the Orion Chicago Hiring Conference and a week after the conference I had on-site visits scheduled with multiple companies. The entire process from my first contact with Orion to job offer took two and a half months!
