US Air Force, O-3
I am currently a Captain in the Air Force on special duty assignment as an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies at Indiana University until I separate from the military on January 8, 2007. I start my new job at Stryker on January 22! I came to Orion in August 2006 through a web search for recruiters. I talked to many other recruiting companies, as well. The entire Orion staff was very candidate oriented, and I really felt the Cincinnati staff was very helpful and professional.
I attended the November Chicago conference and had nine interviews! The experience was exhausting but very worth it. I then went on three on-site interviews after narrowing down my preferences. Thanks to the Orion job conference, I will be an Operations Team Leader for Stryker, which is exactly the type of job I was looking for. I have the opportunity to work for a great company with great people in a team environment. I couldn’t have asked for more.
I had a great experience with Orion. The timeline was perfect, and I had the opportunity to weigh my offers and make the best decision for my family and me. From my experience with other recruiters, I believe that Orion is more candidate-focused. Rather than sending you on interviews with companies that you have no interest in, they really do pair you up with companies you could see yourself working for. I also thought it was very helpful to have former JMOs at Orion working for me. They really knew what I was going through and that I wasn’t just looking for a job, but a career where I could be successful in the long term.
The whole Orion process went well for me. In the end, I think it really comes back to Orion’s responsiveness and candidate-centered approach. I always felt like the Orion team was in my corner to help me find the right fit for me. I am very pleased with the process and look forward to me new career at Stryker. I have already recommended Orion to many of my friends who are thinking about separating from the military.
