Maintenance Supervisor
Midwest
US Navy, E-6
I worked at my first job through Orion for almost 15 years after separating from the Navy where I was a nuclear qualified MM1. I ended up as a Maintenance Supervisor; but when it looked like the plant was going to shut down, I started looking for work elsewhere. I sent out resumes and even got several interviews, but I could never get a job offer.
I contacted Orion again thinking that I needed help with my interview skills. Dan Clevenger contacted me before the next hiring conference and gave me multiple job sheets for positions that were open and companies that would be at the hiring conference. I then attended a hiring conference in Cincinnati in December 2011. I was mainly going to brush up on my interview skills, not necessarily looking to change companies right then. But after the conference, I found out that my first choice, U.S.Steel, had decided to have me in for a second interview. In January I went out for an interview, and I received a job offer in February. I start with U.S. Steel in March as a Maintenance Supervisor. Hopefully won’t need to use Orion again, but, if I do, I know from their track record that I will get another job.
