I'm very excited about my new job with Cintas and can't thank Orion enough for working with me to obtain this great opportunity. Jim Freeze, Brad Ward, Bob Berkholz, and Chris Casanave were great. My transition was seamless, as everyone at Orion helped me prepare.
I started my transition very early (November 2010 in anticipation of my separation from the Army in July 2012), and they were good to give me a call or shoot me an email about once a month. They made sure I was moving forward in getting prepared to go into the business world, as well as preparing me to perform well in interviews. They were great about answering my questions, and even put me in contact with someone who got a job through Orion years earlier in the same field I was looking into.
The monthly preparation through Orion was great in helping me work little-by-little on my goals to prepare myself. Orion helped me make my resume the best it could be. I also attended several webinars about resumes and interviewing skills. Each time I participated in a webinar, it gave me new ideas or things I could work on to better prepare myself and give the best impression for my interviews.
Things continued to stay busy as I was finishing my last year in the military, but monthly phone calls from my recruiter and the webinars helped me stay on track. Brad did a final mock interview with me, and I then attended the Dallas Hiring Conference in March 2012. I was very impressed with how everything was set up. Plus, I got the interviews I wanted!
At the conference, Cintas seemed to be a great fit, and I was offered a second interview. Chris was great at keeping me up-to-date on what Cintas was thinking. I actually received a job offer through another Orion client and was happy to see that the folks at Orion weren’t forcing me one direction or the other. They wanted me to sign on with a company and position I would excel at and enjoy.
I took the second interview with Cintas, and observed and participated in some site work that really helped me to understand the company and what I would be doing as a General Manager for Cintas. A couple of weeks later, the Vice President flew down and met me in Dallas to do one last interview. I then received my offer a week later. Again, throughout the process Chris did a great job of keeping me up-to-date on what she knew.
The Military Officer Transition Program gave me the tools I needed to succeed. You have to be serious about spending some time working on your resume and interviewing skills, but doing so, in combination with constant feedback, helped me land a great job. Orion performed exactly as I wanted and excelled in giving me the feedback and keeping me up-to-date on jobs and future interviews. Jim and Brad were both great, and it was fantastic to receive personal advice from Chris and Bob!
