Shift Supervisor
South Central
US Army, O-2
Regardless of military specialty, it prepares you for experience beyond what would be entrusted in the civilian workforce. My background as an enlisted Transportation Specialist and First Lieutenant in Ordnance has prepared me to be comfortable in heavy machinery environment but aware of how important safety is and identifying shortfalls. Most important is the ability to work with people from across the U.S. and other countries.
I have yet to start my position as a Production Supervisor in steel manufacturing, but would compare what I had seen on sight to Support Operations Section. Each person on a shift has specialized skills that they use to perform their jobs, like the special MOSs I have worked with over my years in the military.
My recruiter at Orion was up-front and honest about my strengths, as well as my weakness. He quickly responded to any questions or concerns I had. Orion understood the difficulty with transitioning and helped select interviews that matched my needs. And when I asked about other recruiting firms, they even suggested that I consult them, as well. The customer service I experienced was outstanding, which is why I focused my efforts with Orion.
