Unit Leader
Midwest
US Army, O-3
My experience with Orion International couldn't have been better. I knew transitioning out of the Army was something that I wanted to do, but I didn't really know where to start. I started to look into recruiting firms, and even started to work with one, but I felt like my needs weren't really being met. Location was a big factor for me, but most recruiting firms wanted me to be 'open' and not have a specific location preference. I really felt like they were just trying to meet the needs of the company, not me.
Then I talked to Todd Phillips and Jim Freeze at Orion, and I knew right away that I wanted to work with them. Todd worked tirelessly to make sure that he understood what was important to me. The biggest difference I saw with working with Todd versus other recruiting firms is that he wanted to match the company with a candidate. He wasn't trying to ‘sell’ me on a company, and he wasn't trying to ‘sell’ a company on me. He genuinely cared about my career and my future and tried to find a good match between me and a company that would foster a long a mutually beneficial career for both me and the company.
I attended the hiring conference in Chicago, and Todd matched me up with eight great companies. I ended up deciding on Nestle Waters North America, and I truly feel like it is going to work out great. I feel like the job description is perfect, not just to transition out of the Army, but to continue to develop my leadership skills that I gained as an officer. The people are great as well. This is all due to Todd working diligently to find that great match between candidate and company. I have already recommended Orion to a few of my buddies looking to get out in the next few years and will continue to do so.
