Las Vegas Review-Journal Covers Veterans in Construction at CONEXPO-CON/AGG

Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Todd Prince authored an article titled “Veterans on the hunt for jobs at Las Vegas construction expo” after attending CONEXPO-CON/AGG, the construction industry's largest global gathering. 

Confirming the assertions of our blog post from earlier this month, Prince explains that “[a]fter shedding a massive amount of skilled workers in the wake of the Great Recession, the U.S. construction industry is booming again. And it is in massive need of skilled laborers like welders, diesel truck mechanics and masons.”

But, he goes on to write, companies are not easily finding the talent they need to fill these positions. The solution? Prince points out that veterans are a great fit for the construction industry. He attended a panel discussion co-chaired by David Coe, SVP of Strategic Programs at Orion, presented to construction industry managers on the benefits of hiring former servicemen. Coe told his audience that more than 5,500 veterans have been placed in construction-related jobs over the past 15 years through Orion.
