This week, we’re excited to profile Trevor Gilliand, an Orion team member who joined Orion as an Account Executive on the West Coast team in August. Get to know Trevor as he discusses his military career, what led him to Orion Talent, and his pastimes and hobbies.
Trevor’s Military Experience
Trevor retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the Air Force after twenty years in Aircrew Flight Equipment, an aviation safety career field, working primarily with fighter aircraft, search and rescue, and reconnaissance. He also spent four years as a Military Training Instructor teaching Air Force basic training.
“My family and I were incredibly lucky to have amazing assignments in Las Vegas, San Antonio, England, and Northern California, where I currently live,” Trevor said. “I'm incredibly proud of my time with the Air Force, but I am truly enjoying my post-military adventure.”
Transition from the Military
During Trevor’s transition from the Air Force in 2021, he participated in a six-month corporate sales internship through DoD Skillbridge with an organization called Sales Platoon to learn the B2B sales basics. Upon graduation from the program, Trevor entered pharmaceutical sales with Pfizer as the Territory Manager covering Sacramento, CA. “Working at Pfizer was a great experience that helped me to hone my skills in interacting with clients strategically, finding new business, and achieving business objectives,” Trevor stated.
Journey to Orion
After his role at Pfizer, Trevor began searching for a new role in B2B sales that was more in line with his personality and military experience. “I was looking for something in sales that I could be proud of, much like my military service,” Trevor explained.
Initially, Trevor registered with Orion as a candidate for other roles. “I was receiving jobs that were still in operations management or medical sales, which makes sense, but I was hoping to step away from that arena,” he stated. Trevor saw an opening on LinkedIn for an Account Executive position at Orion, and he immediately applied. After meeting with the team, he knew that this was where he wanted to be.
Trevor’s Hobbies and Pastimes
In his free time, Trevor enjoys traveling as often as he can with his wife and two sons, Liam and Archer. “Living in England, we traveled all over Europe, but we have also traveled to South America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and much of the U.S.,” he stated. Trevor and his family also enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking, and other outdoor adventures.
With “two crazy boys,” as he likes to say, Trevor is no stranger to a circus environment - which is fitting because he is a descendant of P.T. Barnum of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus!
Trevor is thrilled to be at Orion Talent. “Working with fellow veterans (and supporters) and finding companies that want to hire veterans is incredibly rewarding,” he said.
