This week, we’re excited to profile Caitlin Bacus, a Sourcer for the Military Search Recruiting team who joined Orion Talent in October. Get to know Caitlin as she discusses her career thus far with Orion Talent, her military connections, and her pastimes, hobbies, and family.
Caitlin’s Military Connections
Caitlin grew up in Heidelberg, Germany, where her German father served in the US Army, spending most of his military career in Germany. While she currently lives in Texas, Caitlin considers Germany her home, due to her experience growing up with her extended German family.
Caitlin’s husband is also a military veteran, who served in the USMC for almost eight years before medically retiring as a Staff Sergeant after sustaining severe injuries while stationed in Afghanistan.
Caitlin’s Career Journey
With her husband Paul now joining the civilian workforce, Caitlin was able to focus on her career as well as being a caregiver and mother to her three children, Ruby (11), Jett (10), and Ace (7), and becoming a Sourcer with Orion Talent is Caitlin’s first job! “I got married at 19, and my husband and I started a family right away,” she stated. “I was blessed with the opportunity to stay home with my kids.”
Caitlin is also in school for HR Management at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where she was recently awarded the Pillars of Strength scholarship, given to caregivers of injured service members to honor their selflessness and commitment. Caitlin was one of eight to receive this high honor. Read more about Caitlin’s scholarship.
In her role as a Sourcer at Orion Talent, Caitlin enjoys connecting people to a career and helping veterans realize that their military skills translate to a civilian career. “It’s so fulfilling to reassure them that they are so gifted and they are so needed,” she said.
Caitlin’s Hobbies and Pastimes
When she’s not working or preparing for her degree, Caitlin loves to garden, hike, bike, travel, and spend time with her family. Caitlin and her husband are also currently working through the process to be licensed foster parents in Texas. “We fostered in Florida and Virginia previously,” Caitlin said. “Our house is always loud, full, and busy!”
Caitlin is excited to continue to help veterans with her position at Orion Talent, helping connect military members with jobs.
