Position Description: The HVAC Field Service Technician will perform maintenance of HVAC equipment and repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring. Additionally, you will assist with training and guidance of Level I and II technicians perform advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of all HVAC equipment, including water-cooled single and dual centrifugal chillers up to 200- 2700 tons, screw chillers up to 400 tons, air-cooled chillers up to 530 tons, centrifugal screw templifiers, and magnetic drive chillers 100-700 tons. Key responsibilities include:
• Conduct Warranty Service Application: Independently inspect and test systems to verify functionality.
• Perform Start Ups: Verify functionality of new equipment. Educate customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual.
• Rebuilds/Retrofits: Lead the rebuild and retrofit of a all units. Direct technicians through hands-on demonstration of the necessary steps. Introduce centrifugal rebuilds.
• Jobsite Safety: Wear personal protective equipment when completing service tasks. Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service. Adhere to safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Customer Service: Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, verbal, and written communication. Interact with customer by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call. Explain technical information to technical and non-technical audience.
• Support Sales: Communicate potential sales opportunities to the sales staff through the technician tip quote process. Identify and quote opportunities for minor repairs directly to the customer.
• Conduct Training: Responsible for mentorship of service technicians and hands-on training of equipment.
• Document Performance: Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, product quality reports (PQR), and articles as required.
• Computer Usage: Basic data entry and ability to navigate the use of software programs. Download programs into equipment and micro controllers. Analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance.

Requirements: Associate degree or equivalent from a Tech/Trade school or Military Training with a certificate in HVAC or military-career field equivalent and 5-10 years’ related experience with increasing responsibility. Experience on large tonnage of HVAC equipment of all kinds, especially chillers, which is required, and both air- & water-cooled service & repair. You will service the chiller itself and compressors. Perform removal and installation of 12-volt electronic equipment such as Emergency Lights and Controllers, Sirens, Mobile Computer and Docking stations, Radio Chargers, Mobile Video recording equipment, GPS equipment, equipment consoles, safety cages etc.
Complete pre-and post-installation checklists to document and ensure operation of the vehicle’s existing accessories, lights, and other components.
Document the physical condition of the vehicle before and after work
Document customer information, details of work performed, hours worked, parts used, specific instruction from the customer, etc.
Mentor less experienced Installers
Able to act as Lead Installer on large
Confirm site grounding continuity using a clamp-on ground resistance
Perform antenna systems analysis using a Frequency Domain Reflectometer (FDR)
Able to identify and suggest the best option(s) for installation locations/methods for each type/model of vehicle.
Document the locations/methods the customer has agreed
Capable of directing self and other assigned
Perform site walks to aid in order to confirm equipment installation requirements and, if necessary, create customer quotes for new and add-on projects.


Knowledge/Skills:
Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
Strong self-management skills and interpersonal communication skills to work closely with customers and subcontractor community, as well as Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams
Self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision
Ability to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations
Excellent communication (oral and written) skills and must also have high sense of urgency, strong work ethic and is results-oriented

Requirements:
Working overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules
Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving
Must be able to pass a background check
Security +, CompTIA or related certificate is highly desirable

Position Details:
• Title: Field Service Technician
• Location: Bay Area, CA (San Jose/Fresno/Stockton/Sacramento/Santa Rosa)
• Travel/Schedule: Approximately 75% travel; you can realistically expect to travel Mon-Fri overnight throughout the U.S. (home on weekends) for three weeks each month, and be home for the other week. Jobs are typically 3 to 5 days in length. When not traveling, you will either work from home or at a local office (completing paperwork, providing technical support, assisting with housing loadouts, etc).
• Compensation: Target base salary ~$32/hr - $37/hr+
o Bonuses/Additional Compensation: you can expect about 15% O/T annually paid at 1.5X base rate.

Position Description: In this role you will be responsible for supporting customers with on-site service, technical support and on-site training. Primary functions of this position are commissioning new equipment; preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of existing equipment; and telephone customer support. The Field Service Technician also prepares reports documenting the work performed and the performance of the equipment. You will spend your first few weeks training at the home office in Tulsa, OK, then receive OJT with other seasoned FSTs before going out on work calls autonomously. Some specific responsibilities include:
• Provide technical service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building occupancy codes and efficient operation requirements.
• Programming and commissioning of Control Systems and Integration with other systems related to building automation.
• Be well-versed in multiple controls systems as they may be on a different site each day based on the service calls that come in on a daily basis.
• Communicate directly with the customer in order to satisfy the needs regarding the specifics of what is required to solve the issue on a particular site.
• Document the services performed on a service call on a FSR (Field Service Report) with details of what the service call consisted of and to document if the call is complete or will require a follow up visit.
• Replace failed parts, controllers, wire, relays and devices as required.
• Maintain a good disposition with the customers and deal with them in a courteous manner at all times.
• Verify devices, panels and annunciators of controls projects.
• Ensure timely software backups are created for projects and software development.
• Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.

In order to be successful in this role, you should have good electrical, electronic and/or mechanical aptitude, to include troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of such equipment and systems as motors, industrial controls, compressors, etc. You should also have a clear ability to work with electronic equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, oscilloscopes, etc; the ability to troubleshoot basic electric and electronic circuitry, including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams; and a working understanding of AC power circuitry including breakers, multi-phase power, etc (120VAC). You must be comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces. And you must be service-minded and customer-focused.
